Arboubbeads

Aliya Boubard is a member of Sagkeeng First Nation, located on Treaty 1 Territory in Manitoba. She is Anishinaabe and considers herself a multi-disciplinary artist, exploring photography, drawing, design, and more recently, traditional beading. She graduated from the University of Manitoba with her Bachelor of Fine Arts, and is currently attending Simon Fraser University to pursue a Post-Baccalaureate Diploma in Indigenous Studies. Aliya is also currently the Assistant Curator at the Bill Reid Gallery of Northwest Coast Art, located in downtown Vancouver.  

Aliya has been beading for over a year and a half now, and started Arboubbeads in the summer of 2020. She is inspired by traditional beadwork, but also incorporates contemporary colours and patterns into her work.  

Arboubbeads is 100% Indigenous owned and operated.
